Can stress cause hair loss?
Yes, it can – but there may be other reasons as well. If your hair is thinning and you think that this might be the result of something other than the natural aging process, then make an appointment with your doctor. If stress is the cause, then your hair loss should slow down and possibly stop altogether as you become less stressed, although this can take many months.
If your hair is coming out in clumps, leaving completely hairless patches on your head, this is called alopecia and you should see a doctor to identify the cause and treat the condition. It could be stress, or it might have a different physiological or hormonal cause.
